The mission of Musicians without Borders is to use music to connect communities, bridge divides, and heal the wounds of war and conflict.

It was truly an honor and an exciting opportunity to be invited as expert advisor to the Sounding Conflict Project.

The 62nd Annual Meeting of the Society for Ethnomusicology (SEM) took place at the Denver Marriot City Center from October 26 to 29, 2017.

Our Annual Report Conference took place from Oct. 19 to 22, 2017, with a public symposium on Oct. 21 and strategic and thematic brainstorming sessions including MOMRI researchers and two special guests the other three days.

The theme for the 14th Inter-American Symposium on Ethnographic Research in Education was “Crossing Borders: Disciplines, Languages/Cultures, and Spaces/Places.”

“Musicking and Nonkilling for Peacebuilding: Crises, Dangers and Opportunities” was held from Mon. Sept. 18 to Wed. Sept. 20, 2017 in Vasa, Finland.

The theme of the 2017 APPRA conference (August 23-25) was “Promoting Peace and Upholding the Transcendent Dignity of the Human Person in the Asia-Pacific Region.”

The 20th Congress of the IMS took place at the prestigious Tokyo University of the Arts in March 2017
